IRIS is the international rail industry standard driven by UNIFE (European Rail Industry Association) and is widely recognized by stakeholders and relevant parties in the rail sector, such as system manufacturers and rail operators.
It is based on the internationally recognized standard ISO/ TS 22163: 2017 which includes specific application requirements for rail organizations, as well as the ISO 9001 quality standard.
The purpose of IRIS is to improve the quality and the reliability of rolling stock, signage and infrastructure, thus improving the entire supply chain.
It can be applied to construction part manufacturers of individual systems and components, and to operators and vehicle manufacturers which move around on railways.
